Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Deutsche Hydrapro brake actuator. The series that we're working with today is going to be the G-1600 Alpha. If you need a higher flow rating or if you have a triple-axle trailer, that's a good reason to need more flow, that is gonna be the G-1600 X Alpha. The unit itself is going to have a very small construction comparative to a lot of the other accessories on an RV. You can mount it up pretty well anywhere you've got an open footprint of about 6 by 12 inches. more

Hey neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the hydro star electric over hydraulic actuator for disc brakes on a 2020 Keystone Montana. Now the actuator is really the meat and potatoes of a disc brake conversion. So if you're going from your drums to disk, you do need to have hydraulics to be able to have those pistons compressed. And that's what your actuator does. It's simply just a pump that has your brake fluid in it. more

HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit Installation - Flat Bed Trailer- Video
Hey, guys. Kevin here with etrailer, and today I'm gonna be showing you how to install the Hydrastar electric-over-hydraulic brake actuator kit for disc brakes, here on our flatbed trailer. Do you haul around heavy machinery on your trailer like our neighbor does here today And you want some more control over your braking and you want more even braking so that you can safely tow that heavy machinery and come to a complete stop exactly when you need to Then an electric-over-hydraulic disc brake kit is going to be the solution for you. The nice thing about an electric-over-hydraulic actuator is that you're gonna be able to use your electric brake controller that's in your tow vehicle. And what that's gonna do is it's going to allow you to manually adjust your breaking settings to exactly what you need it to, depending on the load that you are hauling at the time. Another thing with that is that in the event that you are having some trailer sway, you can easily tap that manual override and activate the actuator so you can kind of brake on the trailer and kind of fix that sway. more

Hey everybody, we are here with Jim today, and Jim got you, what do we have put on today for your wheelWe put on a electric over hydraulic disc brake. Awesome and I think we went with the HydraStar as well for your actuator on the inside, so-Yes we did. Well cool, why don't we go ahead and take a look on here. And some of those advantages of that hydraulic brake system is just gonna be a little bit of a smoother ride. Especially if you do have that proportional brake controller, and since you got the ram there, I think you're all kinda taken care of with that. Gonna make for a smoother ride. more

Hi there trailer owners, today on your 2022 trails west by RPM, we're going to be taking the old electric drum brakes off and converting it over to electric over hydraulic disc brakes, and to complete that installation, we're going to be using a hydro Star's 1600 PSI actuator. And this is what our actuator looks like when it's installed. The entire thing will fit inside of your front compartment and that's the most common places where you're going to install it when putting in electric over hydraulic setup on your trailer. And that's what this is specifically designed for. It's a 1600 PSI actuator, that's designed for disc brake systems. In a disc brake system, you need a higher pressure, than you would with a drum brake system hydrastar does make drum brake actuators as well if you had a hydraulic push for hydraulic drum set up, you could use that, but those are only rated for our 1200 PSI. more

Electric Over Hydraulic Disc Brake Installation HBA16- Video
Hi there fifth wheel owners, today in your 2021 Vanleigh Beacon, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install HydroStar's Disc Brake Actuator. Along with this actuator, we're going to be using HydroStar's line kit here with flexible lines and hard lines to reach our actuator and Kodiak's disc brake conversion kit. Now, this is what our actuator looks like when it's installed and it can mount anywhere inside of our front compartment here and is recommended to be mounted inside to protect it from the elements. This is going to pressurize the fluid on our line set to the brakes at the back to apply our brakes. It does this when it receives a signal from its brake controller, the brake controller on your truck does need to have an option for an electric over hydraulic system in order to work properly with our actuator here. We have a lot of different brake controllers here at etrailer so you can pick the best one for your particular set up, depending on how many axles you have. more

And this is what our actuator looks like when it's installed. We've mounted it just to the sidewall here in the front compartment. I like to have it up a little bit higher. This way it ensures that our reservoir is going to be above our brake lines and our calipers. more

Hi there, Keystone owners. Today, on your 2019 Keystone Montana, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install HydraStar's electric over hydraulic brake actuator and line kit. Along with that, we're going to be using Kodiak's disc brake kit.And this is what our actuator looks like when it's installed. Our hydraulic actuator is going to provide up to 1600 PSI of hydraulic fluid to our brakes at the back, which is optimal for our disc brake system, which requires higher pressure than a drum brake system would. With this kit, we do get everything we need to convert our trailer over from electric brakes to hydraulic brakes. Because in addition to having our actuator here, we also get our brake line kit, which is designed for a tandem axle setup. more

Hi there, fifth wheel owners. Today on your 2017 Keystone Montana, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Hydrastar's 1600 PSI brake line and actuator kit. To help us complete this installation, we'll be connecting it to Code DX 00:00:15 13-inch disc brakes at the back.One of the things I did want to mention is that this kit also comes with a new breakaway switch, as well as a breakaway switch battery. Our customer already had one installed and you can see it's a nice new one he just had put on, so we're not going to be replacing that today since it's already new components. But you'll get one included with your kit so you can easily get these installed, it's just a couple of wires, so it's really easy. You can follow along with us though, because we'll be hooking up to the customer's battery, but the process is going to be basically the same.We'll begin our installation by getting our actuator mounted, because we need to know where we're going to have to route all of our lines and our wiring to. more

This is what it's going to look like when it's installed. It's going to come with your actuator and it's also going to come with your breakaway switch battery. Now you will find some kits out there that don't have the breakaway switch battery with them. Keep in mind, by law if you have a breakaway switch on a trailer, it has to be run off a separate battery. more

Hi there fifth wheel owners. Today on your 2019 Crossroads Redwood, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Hydrastar's 1600 PSI Hydraulic Brake Actuator. This kit comes with the actuator as well as all of the lines we'll need for our tandem axle trailer. As well as a breakaway battery and breakaway switch. We just got done converting over our trailer from its electric drum brakes to hydraulic disc brakes. We need a very high amount of pressure to operate our disc brakes on our trailer, which is why we want the 1600 PSI that's available in our actuator up there, to ensure that we can properly get enough pressure to operate our disc brake system. more

So in order to complete the swap, we're actually going to need a number of components. The first main component here is going to be our electric-over-hydraulic actuator. Now, what I really like about this kit in particular is that it comes with almost all the components we need to complete our installation.The following are components that it includes, there's going to be the actual actuator itself, it's going to come with all the brake lines we need, and it's also going to come with the breakaway switch. The only part that it doesn't come with that we will need is some brake fluid, some obvious tools that we're going to need to complete our installation. Connor: Hey guys, how's it going Connor here today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Tuson electric over hydraulic actuator for disk brakes here on our Keystone Cougar. So in order to change from electric to surge brakes here on our fifth wheel trailer, we're going to need some mechanism to apply the pressure to both of our disk brake calipers. In order to do that, we're going to be using this actuator here. So this actuator is going to take input from the tow vehicle via the form of an electric signal. And then it's going to actuate the pump, and it's going to apply the pressure to our disc breaking assembly so we can stop and slow down the trailer.So in order to use our electric over hydraulic unit, just like we would for electric brakes, we're going to need a brake controller in the cab of our tow vehicle. more

This is going to allow you to use your electric brakes in your truck to control the hydraulic disc brakes in your trailer. Let me give you a few benefits for switching from electric drum brakes to electric over hydraulic disc brakes. Your electric over hydraulic disc brakes are going to give you much greater stopping power in a shorter distance, where your drum brakes are going to tend to wear down over a little bit of time, and then you're going to have to rely on the truck's brakes to stop both the truck and the trailer. With the hydraulic brakes, you're getting 1600 psi in your brake lines. more

HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit Installation - 2018 Grand Design- Video
Today on our 2018 Grand Design Reflection One fifty fifth wheel, you're gonna be taking a look, and I'm gonna show you how I installed the Hydrastar electric over hydraulic actuator kit for disc brakes, part number HBA16-252-82.This is what our actuator looks like when it's installed. You can see here I have it mounted in the front storage compartment of our trailer. So you want to make sure wherever you mount it, you leave your filler cap accessible so you can maintain your fluid level for your brakes. This actuator is gonna be powered through your seven pole plug on the back of your truck, it's gonna give you 1600 PSI, and it's gonna convert your electric signal over to hydraulic pressure to give you maximum braking power on your trailer. Once you've monitored your actuator, then the next thing you want to do is you want to mount your breakaway switch battery and charger, which is this black box here.A couple questions that may be asked is why you need a separate battery for your breakaway switch. While your trailer is being towed, your breakaway switch needs to have constant power. more

As you can see, it's a nice slim design. It doesn't take up a lot of room, and it's definitely an ideal choice for wanting to add hydraulic brakes to your camper or improving the already existing hydraulic brake system in your camper, if you've got the traditional style, to an electric over-hydraulic style. So, we can have direct control of the braking of the trailer from the cab of our vehicle with use of an electronic brake controller.These come in two different varieties.
